Nurse Practitioner Cardiothoracic Surgery (Inpatient & Surgical Services)
Target Start Date: April 24, 2026
Contract Length: 13 week assignment (4/24/26 7/18/26) potential ongoing need
Schedule
Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours plus required call
Shift Structure & Expectations:
Day shifts: 7:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.
Call required: 7 8 call shifts per month
24 hour weekend call
Night call on weekdays after clinical hours
Clinic: 2 4 days per month
Surgical First Assist: days per month
Call responsibilities include:
Inpatient rounding
First assist callback
Patient Volume: 8 patients per shift
EMR: Epic
Trauma Level: II
Practice Details
Setting:
Hospital-based cardiothoracic surgery service
Mix of inpatient, outpatient/clinic, and operative first assist responsibilities
Patient Population:
Adult cardiothoracic surgical patients
Includes ICU, step down, and post operative care
Support:
Full surgical and hospital support staff
Multidisciplinary care team environment
Clinical Responsibilities Include:
First assist in cardiothoracic surgery
Pre and post operative rounding
Managing ICU & step down patients
Inpatient coverage during call
Independent decision-making within CT surgery scope
Requirements
Role: Nurse Practitioner
Experience:
Prior cardiothoracic surgery experience required
High acuity environment; must be comfortable with first assist cases
License:
Active Washington license required (not willing to license)
Compact accepted only for NPs (not applicable here)
Certifications: BLS, ACLS
Credentialing Timeframe: 60 days
Background: Clean background required
Location
Richland, Washington within a cardiothoracic surgery service covering inpatient and operative settings.
