Position Overview:

We have an immediate need for a full-time locum General Surgeon to provide services for our veteran population at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in veterans lives while experiencing the unique beauty of Appalachian Mountains.

Scope of Care: Physician shall be responsible for providing GENERAL SURGERY Physician care including, but not limited to:

• Clinic Responsibilities: Physician shall be present on time for any scheduled clinics/surgeries start times as documented by physical presence in the clinic or OR at the scheduled start time.
• Communication of Test Results: Mechanisms must be in place to provide notification of test results for patients receiving care in accordance with VHA Directive 1088, Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
• Medications: Physician shall follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
• Discharge education: Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all GENERAL SURGERY clinical or surgical patients.

Must have completed a residency in General Surgery and be Board Certified/Board Eligible by ABS.

Credentialling and onboarding takes approximately 4-6 weeks.

Hours & Schedule:

• VA Business Hours: 7:30am 4:00pm
• Clinic Hours: 7:30am 4:00pm

Items Required for Submission:

• Current CV without any gaps over 30 days since completion of medical school- written explanations are accepted
• One active, unrestricted Medical License in any state
• Current DEA
• BLS- American Heart Association (AHA) required
• 3 Current References
• Letter of Intent
