Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in biological sciences, microbiology, virology, molecular biology, health physics, public health or related science; education, training, and relevant work experience is considered equivalent to an advanced degree. Experience in applying biosafety, radiation safety, and/or laboratory safety and containment principles and regulations in a research-intensive environment or other. Experience in the use of ionizing radiation in research applications. Experience with recombinant DNA , synthetic nucleic acid, and microbiological laboratory techniques. Experience in a life/physical sciences-related research laboratory. Knowledge of applicable regulations, standards, principles, and practices such as biological safety (e.g., NIH Guidelines, BMBL , Select Agent Regulations) and radiation safety ( NRC and State Radiation Control). Proficient in standard microbiological laboratory techniques and methods. Understanding of facility design and operation associated with various biosafety containment levels and organisms (human, plant, and animal pathogens, genetically-modified plants and animals, large and small animals, etc.). Competent in standard laboratory techniques using radioactive material or supporting a research-based radiation safety program. Familiarity with general molecular biology techniques. Health and/or safety-related professional certifications.
