Primary Location: United States (US) - Iowa (US-IA) - Dubuque Function: Manufacturing Engineering Title: Weld Manufacturing Engineer - 30358 Your Responsibilities As a Weld Manufacturing Engineer, at John Deere Dubuque Works, you will provide weld engineering and production support for fabrication. In addition, you will: * Establish routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation (OMS), quality plans and labor standards (WPlanner) for revisions to current operations and/or new parts or programs * Provide support and troubleshooting for welding operations. * Investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. * Identify cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas and follows thru to implementation. * Ability to program and instruct on the use of Miller & Lincoln welding equipment. * Lead and actively participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) - improving departmental Safety, Quality, Efficiency, and Delivery through data driven proactive projects. * Analyze, specify, procure, and implement production tooling and fixtures for new and existing processes. * Define and implement layout changes necessary for new product introduction into fabrication. * Communicate changes to peers and welders, and conduct training as required. What Skills You Need * 2 or more years of Weld Engineering experience. * Hands on skill in programming robotic welding systems and manual welding. * Mechanical aptitude in working with weld tooling. * Experience being an effective member of a multi-disciplined, cross functional team. * Project management skills and demonstrated execution skills (i.e. startup of a welding cell). * Analytical skills to determine welding related cycle times and costs. * Demonstrated understanding of quality planning and problem solving skills. * Excellent communication skills. * Must be a self-starter with the ability to execute a variety of tasks with little supervision. * Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office. What Makes You Stand Out Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include: * Fanuc robotic programming expertise. * Proficiency in WPlanner, VisView, Vis Mockup and Creo (Pro-E). * Knowledge of standard quality tools, such as: FMEA, Root Cause Analysis and Statistics. * Analytical skills in Statistical Process Control for dimensional integrity of weldments. * Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance and facilities. * Experience with line and process design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance and visual management tools. * Experience with shop floor manufacturing, incentive pay systems and work measurement. Education (or equivalent work experience) * Bachelor's degree in Weld Engineering or Weld Engineering Technology.
