Application Engineer - HT REPORTS TO: Product Application Engineering LOCATION: Solon, OH SUMMARY DESCRIPTION Develops engineering designs and complete proposals covering Handling Technologies inquiries. Has the responsibility to produce correct and competitive proposals in a timely manner, within the guidelines established by the HT Product Manager. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Plans, implements, and controls the direction and scope of proposals assigned to him/her. This involves all aspects of generating a proposal, engineering, drafting, technical descriptions, and costing. 2. Applies specialized knowledge to all proposals as required and as requested by other application engineers. 3. After proper approval by Supervisor, forwards all proposal information to the field. 4. Assists field personnel to obtain all relevant data and to clarify inquiries. 5. Maintains quote/project files as established by project guidelines. 6. Cleans up and organizes quote files in preparation for order entry. This includes generating updated target cost calculations and order result projections. The quote cleanup and order entry must be conducted in the most expeditious manner to avoid delays in the process. 7. Directly responsible for correct and competitive proposals within the result guidelines of the company. 8. Responsible for entering Orders based on engineered quotations. The quote cleanup and order entry must be conducted in the most expeditious manner to avoid delays in the process. 9. Keeps the Supervisor informed on problems relating to area of responsibility. The above listed responsibilities are not considered to be totally all inclusive. There may be other duties that are inherent in the performance of this position. PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Two (2) or more years of experience of estimating in the material handling field. A broad background in cranes/hoists is preferred. The application of AutoCAD 2D and Microsoft Office software is required. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Associates Degree in Engineering or equivalent is a minimum. Bachelors degree in Engineering is preferred. CONTACTS WITIN AND OUTSIDE OF THE ORGANIZATION High level of communication with company personnel. Contacts and communication with dealers and equipment users. DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY Activities will affect annual volume of $18 to $25 million.
