Vital networks around the world run on CommScope solutions Job Description SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION: This Validation Engineer will be an integral member ofthe CommScope Global Reliability organization supporting the Validation andMaterial Analysis teams for Telecommunications business units in Richardson,Texas. Primary responsibilities include Product Performance Testing for Base StationAntennas, Filters, Connectors, Wireless, Broadband products and Materialstesting. You will lead and support reliabilityassurance activities, new product analysis through HALT and on-going reliabilityefforts. Activities include testing, measuring and analyzing the mechanical,electrical, environmental and functional performance of systems and subsystemsusing automated and manual test equipment. You will also be expected to contribute to the overall efficiency andsuccess of the team through automation tool development. This is a "hands-on" problem solving positionwith opportunities to address new product designs as well as makingimprovements to current products. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Plan and execute DesignValidation, Product Validation, New Materials and On-going Reliability Testingfor Telecommunications products documenting findings thoroughly and promptly. 2. Participate incross-functional teams for yield improvement, Failure and Root Cause Analysis,cost reduction and new supplier & material introduction. Knowledge of DFSS tools and methods desired. 3. Participate with designteams researching new material, low cost part risk evaluation and includingtest plan definition, execution and schedule. 4. Participate incustomer technical document reviews, bid preparations and witness testing. 5. Coordinatereliability test procedures and practices with other CommScope groups andresolve conflicting requirements. 6. Analyze fieldreliability data to identify areas for improvement. Document findings, and workwith engineering to help determine actions. 7. Support and lead DfR(Design for Reliability) activities for Active Wireless Systems cost reductionproject teams to assure acceptable risks for both CommScope and customers. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to: Manager, Richardson Reliability POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 1. Bachelor'sor Master in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related fields. 2. Experienceplanning, executing and reporting results of DV (Design Validation) and PV(Product Validation) testing. 3. Knowledge ofFMEA, MSA, PPAP and APQP desired. 4. Strong analyticaland trouble shooting skills with a clear understanding of failure mode and rootcause analysis. 5. Must be wellorganized and able to accomplish tasks independently while meeting deadlinesand commitments. 6. Requires 2 ormore years experience in Validation, Reliability, Design & Development, Environmentalor Material Testing and Analysis. 7. Electronicsystems, components and/or materials performance testing experience, includingRF, Wireless and Fiber Products testing and failure analysis experience isstrongly desired. 8. Experience executing environmental testing and test automationdevelopment using commercially available programs such as LabVIEW, TestStand orother programming languages strongly desired. 9. Musthave a strong mechanical aptitude and a strong willingness to learn and applynew skills. 10. Knowledge of at least one Reliability Engineering technicalcompetency and familiarity with related disciplines such as Design ofExperiments, statistical analysis methods, failure rate prediction andinternational reliability/environmental testing standards. 11. Stronginterpersonal skills, able to work effectively in and lead cross functionalteams, accomplish tasks through influencing othersand coordinate resources to meet customer expectations. 12. Able to communicate effectively with a variety of internal andexternal customers and/or suppliers, both orally and in writing, in English. 13. Knowledgeof and experience using basic statistical tools to analyze, summarize and present data in an understandable format. 14. Proficiencywith Microsoft Office and able to routinely create testprocedures and plans, document test reports and deliver presentations tomultiple functional levels is critical. 15. Ableand willing to travel approximately 10% of the time and locally as needed tosupport 3rdparty testing. Post Jo
